Course Description

Shepherds Health & Safety Ltd.’s Instructors are RoSPA qualified to deliver hands on practical training on Abrasive Wheels. Since 2007, we have established ourselves as a trusted, respected Abrasive Wheels training provider including training on the varied types of Work Equipment to which Abrasive Wheels are mounted or fitted to. This course is a must for anyone using Abrasive Wheels.

The risk of breakage is inherent in every abrasive wheel. Accident statistics indicate that nearly half of all accidents involving abrasive wheels occur because of an unsafe system of work or operator error.

With regards to abrasive wheels, PUWER 98 (The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998) requires, among other things, that all machinery is suitable for its intended use and is properly maintained. All employees, including those using, mounting and managing the operation of abrasive wheels, should be fully informed and properly trained in their safe use.

Students benefit from the extensive experience of our highly qualified and experienced instructional staff. Our instructors monitor students’ progress and development closely throughout the courses, to ensure that they reach the required Health and Safety Executive standards prior to their final tests. We teach our students to be competent and capable in your working environment, on your equipment. This means your operators will be trained to correctly select, mount and dress the Abrasive Wheels they will use every day.

The course covers: History of Abrasive Wheels Regulations, Legal requirements relating to abrasive wheels, Hazards arising from the use of abrasive wheels, Methods of marking, storing, handling and transportation, Practical demonstrations including; correctly selecting, mounting and dressing Abrasive Wheels.

The following courses can be booked directly via the online booking form below. Your post code address, where the training will be held, should be either NR, IP, CO, CB or PE. If your Post Code is outside of these areas, please contact the office to discuss your requirements further.
